Living History Presentations
Why not invite the Major, Josephine and Aunt Effie to speak at your school, club, or next meeting?
We offer living history presentations on several topics. Most demonstrations last approximately one hour and are performed in character, wearing period attire. We offer a great form of alternative entertainment as well as an opportunity for education.

"The Under the Skirt Tour"
Aunt Effie arrives in her unmentionables with Miss Josephine, who, proceeds to dress her for a promenade or afternoon carriage ride. Before Miss Josephine dresses aunt Effie she discusses a Victorian Gentlewoman's toilet, including makeup, grooming and hair in the 1800’s. Miss Josephine then proceeds, as she dresses aunt Effie, to take the audience through the maze of clothing that was worn under the skirt of the lady of fashion in the 1800’s.

"Love Letters from the Civil War"
The Major and Miss Josephine relate anecdotes about their lives and read aloud from letters, which they have written to each other over the years as the war progresses.
"Growing up on a Southern Plantation"
The plantation as a community, the Major, aunt Effie, and Josephine share their thoughts on what is was like to be young in the early 1800’s They discuss the roles of children, parents, older relatives, and slaves and servants.
"Cause and Effect"
The Major, Josephine and aunt Effie debate the wisdom of going to war, Josephine from the point of European sensibility, the Major from the point of a southern aristocrat, and aunt Effie takes the union view.
Historic Clothing Displays
We also have available for your convenience displays of historic reproduction anti-bellum clothing from day clothes to evening wear. We can also offer commentary and insights to how the clothing was made and worn as well.
